Selenium A Nutritional Trace Mineral Is A Powerful Anti-Oxidant (Antioxidant) And Can Prevent A Number Of Cancers

.
From the research centers of the University of Hannover in Germany to the University of Arizona, on to the Indiana University School of Medicine and it’s sister Indiana University Cancer Center, and indeed many clinical research studies in between, Selenium has been demonstrated as one of the premier antioxidants. And it’s most astonishing function unfolds below.

Selenium naturally occurs in soils in some areas and is critical to human nutrition (as well as in animal husbandry). The multi functions of this nutritional mineral have been shown by clinical researchers to include, boosting the antioxidant potential of vitamin E, increasing insulin efficiency, a fighter of autoimmune disorders, curtailing the mutation of viruses and yes dramatically reduces the risk of several types of cancers, for example : prostate, colorectal, lung cancers and breast cancer.

Selenium dramatically lowers the risk of cancer by activating a tumor-suppressing gene, the p53.

At Indiana, a major component of selenium was used to treat human lung cancer cells that were divided into two groups, group one was of cells that were deficient in p53 and group two were cells that that contained a bit of p53. The results were astounding demonstrating that indeed selenium activated the p53 protein and as well protected the cells containing the p53 gene.

The conclusion of the researchers is simple, that selenium therapy can act as a cancer preventative by vigorously boosting the vitality of p53 genes.

More research has been done by a combined team hailing out of the University of Pennsylvania, on blood samples from a group of women totaling 627 and each over the age of seventy, over an extended period of time. The focus was to determine the presence and concentration of selenium and something called carotenoids.

By the way, carotenoids are a nutritional compound, are anti-inflammatory and yes, come from plants, especially the organic ones.

In the time interval of five years, ninety women kicked the bucket, and the primary causes were heart disease and cancer. Without exception these were all women with very low levels of selenium and carotenoids.

Reader, have you as yet attended to your nutritional selenium levels?

Overseas at the University of Hannover, from a study group of women over the age of sixty, numbering 178, their blood samples and dietary information were very significantly deficient both in selenium, vitamin E and carotenoids.

Okay reader, it becomes obvious does it not, that the so called age-related “diseases” is demonstrably a deception. It is nutritional intergrity that is lacking and is the core of almost all ill-health. No wonder so many genuine research reports get hidden away from public knowledge. Oh brother!, follow the money baaaby.

Dozens of reports of research studies all come to precisely the same conclusion, namely that good health is seated firmly in good and proper nutrition.

The presence of selenium in a geographical locale determines the selenium concentration in foods grown in that soil. The facts are that much of the food supply in North America does not contain sufficient selenium for the body human.

Please reader, allow me to engage an extra bit of your attention to the following sentences. As with all supplements, the amounts recommended for the “general public” are solely based on the levels needed to prevent a deficiency status. Just barely enough to keep you alive. And those are the levels known as the U.S. RDA. Holy donkey!!.

For selenium the U.S. RDA is 55 mcg and 70 mcg for women and men respectively. However the cancer preventive qualities of selenium as indicated by Dr. Martin Smith, author of the Indiana study, require a daily supplement intake of 200 mcg. Please be aware that warnings about high-dosage toxicity according to the reports, become immediately active at an intake of 2500 mcg daily. There is a huge huge huge difference there, do you see.

Readers with abode in Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Montana and the Dakotas are probably getting enough selenium in their local foods, as the soils there are known to be abundant in selenium.

Alrighto, yet again the Amazon basin beckons us in search of the Brazilian nut. That is the premier power-house of selenium, with one ounce of the nuts providing 840 mcg, waaaay above the sickening RDA of 50 mcg and 70 mcg.

A comment from those of you living in the states mentioned above ought to be enlightening.
