It is the newest class of antidepressant drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, SSRIs, that are the worst offenders, with toxic side effects.

You may be surprised to know that prescription antidepressant drugs do not address the root cause of depression at all, rather they tinker around with the depression symptoms by monkeying about with your brain’s use of a natural chemical, serotonin, that is by and large the governor of your mood.

Neurotransmitters.

In a body human at optimum health, a natural neurotransmitter serotonin is secreted by your brain cells responding to stimulii from other parts of your brain, and sent to fill receptors on other cells. Depression, A Symptom Of Nutritional Deficiencies In The Modern Diet.

What the research at Tufts University found, was that all human subjects with depression, mild to major, had something in common namely very low serum levels of a nutrient called folate.

From Massachussets, at the Harvard Medical School, a clinical research team took on a group of persistent depression “patients” who were not at all responding to the scary drugs zoloft and prozac. A daily dosage of 2,000 mg of omega-3 fatty acids, specifically EPA, was administered. By the way reader, EPA is one of the omega-3 fatty acids. You know what? Terrific results happened as a result of administering the EPA. However, this author at the keyboard today at this site is questioning: why the better part of the omega-3’s called DHA was left out. There is no question that had the full omega 3 fatty acids ( both EPA and DHA) been administered, the results would have been faster, awesome and fantastic beyond words to express it. The optimal health ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 is 1:1, with the best ratio being( 0.17 to 1) or 0.17:1

Origins of Inflammation.

You may have speculated correctly that nutrition has a lot to do with it. The reason being that the body human does not make any omega-3 fatty acids,they have to be derived from the foods that you eat, ditto for what is known as the essential amino-acids.

It needs to be made abundantly clear that there is an associated omega-6 fatty acids with the omega-3 fatty acids, and the body human needs both provided they are in a balanced ratio as nature intended.

However a major very worrisome and creeping problem has been rising over a number of decades, namely the wide use as food of hydrogenated oils, processed and denatured foods, the partaking of so called grain-fed beef and artificially raised fish. Those have combined to supply your body with an extremely high and unnatural ratio of omega-6’s to omega-3 fatty acids on the order of 19 to 1. The natural ratio is 0.17 to 1, do you see the difference.

In brief, cows have two stomachs and were meant by nature to feed on grass. Feeding them grains dramatically alters their physiology and those changes are passed on to you via beef and milk, no wonder the cattle are sick alomost all the time. Likewise for the artificially raised fish, fed grain pellets and additives. Infact such salmon are injected with a dye to make their flesh resemble that of salmon from the wild, and their omega-3 supply is way down the pits-not a good fish oil+heart disease.
